Hypercharge: Unboxed

Overall, I had a lot of fun playing Hypercharge: Unboxed, I should note that this review and my experience were from playing the game solo with AI teammates in the campaign. This took me back to what I was imagining how it looked with my toys fighting each other. With its cartoonish look, silly dialogue, easy-to-learn controls, and solo player-friendly attitude, Hypercharge: Unboxed is a fun game for anyone of any age can enjoy.

Digital Cybercherries’ Hypercharge: Unboxed is a co-op action-adventure game that blends first and third-person shooter elements. As action figures, up to four players can work together to stop Major Evil. Along with offline play and cooperative multiplayer, the game also includes PvP.

Hypercharge: Unboxed really came out of left field for us. It looked appealing throughout its development, but the end result is a sheer delight. Again, it doesn’t go leaps and bounds in terms of gameplay, but it’s fun and technically sound enough to keep players coming back. On top of that, the map design is top-notch, the missions are good fun, and the ability to play online or locally – with friends or bots – gives you options galore. So, yeah, digging into this toy chest was an absolute pleasure. Chances are you’ll have a good time with it too.

As I said before, Hypercharge: Unboxed was originally released back in 2020 and since then, it has seen several updates and improvements. The Xbox version, which I have been playing, comes with all of those updates and improvements straight out of the box. Hypercharge: Unboxed is good, clean, chaotic fun. A wonderful nostalgic trip down memory lane to 40 years ago when I used to stage some of the most epic battles in toy history. I really want to go and re-watch Small Soldiers now.

A little rough around the edges with traversal but there is so much charm and fun with this game that I can easily overlook the negatives. Each level is like a trip down memory lane and reminds me of when I had epic battles that left a complete mess of my bedroom, living room and more. With lots of replayability and fun game play, Hypercharged: Unboxed will be one of those surprise hits for me of the year. A game I didn't even know existed that ended up being one of my favorites of the year.

Hypercharge: Unboxed is an excellent multiplayer shooter. It plays extremely well, runs smoothly, and offers plenty of fun and challenge for groups of friends.

Hypercharge: Unboxed is like “Small Soldiers” and Call of Duty had a super cute destructive baby! This game has great replayability, easy to pick up and even better with friends. I spent the majority of my time in the PVE portion of the game, I really enjoyed that aspect. The controls were a little wonky at first but thankfully they offer the ability to change them to something more familiar. I can say that I will be playing Hypercharge: Unboxed for a long time. The challenging enemies, the detailed and cool maps, badge earning and much more have me wanting to come back.

An incredible nostalgic aesthetic and straightforward gameplay model are endearing in the best way but start to feel thin all too quickly.
