Rumor mill: The God of War franchise has been a PlayStation staple for nearly two decades, and the latest entry in the revisioned Norse mythology saga may be headed to the PC realm sooner than you'd think. According to the rumor mill, plans for a PC port of God of War Ragnarok could be revealed this month.

The speculation stems from a report by the French deals site Dealabs, which has developed a reputation for accurately sniffing out news like this. As an example, they reported that the Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition would be coming to computers last year, which it did.

If the Ragnarok whispers prove true, it would continue Sony's accelerating push to bring more PlayStation exclusives to the PC market. During their latest financial briefing in February, Sony's top brass indicated that the company would become more "aggressive" in bringing first-party games to non-PlayStation platforms such as PC.

We've already seen the first steps, with the day one PC release of Helldivers 2 alongside the console versions. But porting massive AAA exclusives like God of War Ragnarok to PC in under two years would really drive that multi-platform commitment home for Sony's gaming division.

Of course, rumors of an imminent PlayStation Showcase event in May are also fueling the Ragnarok PC port speculation. But chances are that the game will be announced with a sudden press release. It doesn't make much sense to host a major event for a simple PC port unless other titles accompany it.

While Ragnarok debuted on PlayStation 4 and 5 in November 2022 to widespread critical acclaim, the sprawling action-adventure epic received a major free expansion called Valhalla just a few months ago. This roguelike mode brought endless replayability with randomized levels to keep even the most battle-hardened fans engaged.

Adapting the robust free Valhalla expansion for the PC crowd could give Sony another reason to highlight Ragnarok amid rumors of its impending PC port. We've already seen that the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut for PC, scheduled for May 16, will be the first to support Sony's new PlayStation overlay feature for smoother cloud saves and controller mapping. It's possible that God of War Ragnarok on PC could also receive this integration.

Of course, it's all still squarely in rumor territory until Sony makes it official. But given the company's aforementioned assertions about PC expansions, it certainly seems plausible that exclusives like Ragnarok could find their way to computers sooner than in the past.

Was waiting for this. I bought a PS5 only for that game... and it was worth it.

I sold it afterward since I either wanted a limited edition console, or a PS5 Pro.

But don't lure yourself, it was the best game I played in a while. It is easily the best looking game to this day and it didn't even used Ray Tracing.

Couldn't care less. Sony has ruined all reputation ever since the helldivers 2 debacle and now limiting Ghost of Tsushima
Interesting, thanks.
I wasn't aware of what's happening to "Ghost", a PC release I've prayed for.
Perhaps someone will remove the offensive "features" so normal people will be able to enjoy the game. Quite a common thing I believe. Fingers crossed as the day I'll sign up for PSN will never come. However, should it all crash 'n' burn I'll totally survive it.
Heck my old-game-collection will last me a lifetime if necessary.

Oh boy, cant wait to buy this then get reported for "being mean" by some fragile snowflake and getting all my sony games banned.

GoG or bust Soyny.

Honestly don't see it hitting until August at the earliest, but probably September. Releasing games during the summer months isn't that good of a business strategy, because there is so much else to do during the warmer months of summer.

This is one great game, and worth buying ps5 to play it - and many more as well. Probably wont buy it 2nd time even, if on PC it would look bit nicer. For anyone who enjoys good games, you're for a feast.
And get the Ghost of Tsushima. It is easily my top 5 ever.
As for the availability, if you're in affected regions it's bad. Again, I do not care - changing policy takes years for corporations and it is good enough to actually getting the exclusives on PC first. With popularity of those titles Sony will change the policy as well, and will make PSN available in more areas. Hope this will make it available in more places, but right now I'm happy to see this available on PC anyway.

And watch it not be available for sale in 170+ countries because Sony's gonna f*ck this up by forcing PSN for a single player game.
Pirates wont have this problem. Sony is literally giving people incentive to pirate it's PC ports with their stupid PSN mandate and not selling the game in many countries.
