What just happened? At Microsoft's Surface event this week, leading PC manufacturers, including Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Samsung, and Lenovo, announced their first batch of laptops powered by the Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors. The new devices meet Microsoft's Copilot+ standard that requires laptops to include an NPU powerful enough to process 40+ trillion operations per second. Microsoft claims that all Copilot+ PCs will be 58 percent faster than the MacBook Air M3.

Starting with Microsoft's own offerings, the new Surface Laptop can be configured with either the Snapdragon X Elite or Snapdragon X Plus. Available for pre-order starting at $999.99, it is offered with two display options, up to 64GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

The Surface Pro is powered by the same two chips and features an OLED screen with HDR support. Microsoft is offering the device with up to 32GB of memory, up to 1TB of storage, and a new detachable keyboard called the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard. Pricing starts at $999 for the base model.

Dell announced five laptops powered by Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus, including the XPS 13, Latitude 7455, and Inspiron 14 Plus. The XPS 13 is powered by the 12-core Snapdragon X Elite processor with Dual Core Boost, while the Latitude 7455 will be offered with both the Elite and Plus options.

The Dell Inspiron 14 Plus will ship with only a 10-core Snapdragon X Plus processor. The XPS 13 and Inspiron 14 Plus are available to pre-order now at starting prices of $1,299 and $1,099, respectively.

Samsung announced the Galaxy Book 4 Edge, powered by the Snapdragon X Elite. It comes with 14-inch and 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays and includes Galaxy AI features like Live Translate and Chat Assist. It will be available in select markets, including the US, from June 18.

Lenovo is releasing the Yoga Slim 7x 14 and ThinkPad T14s with the Snapdragon X Elite chip. The former is aimed at creators and will start at $1,199, while the latter is designed for business users and has a starting price of $1,699. Both will go on sale next month.

Finally, Taiwanese tech majors Asus and Acer also announced new Copilot+ PCs.

The Asus Vivobook S 15 will ship with either the Snapdragon X Elite or X Plus, feature a 120Hz OLED display, and include up to 32GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. It will go on sale June 18 at a starting price of $1,299.
